Mineral Information

Varieties: Snowflake Obsidian, Apache Tears, Fire Obsidian, Mahogany Obsidian, Rainbow Obsidian etc.

Colours: Black; grey, grey w/brown bands. Gold, silver, blue, violet, green, and combinations of these colours.

Hardness: 5; 6 for basalt glass.

Typical Appearance: Crystals tabular, prismatic or acicular. Granular masses and fibrous masses (Satin Spar).

Astrological and Other Information

Birthstone: None but great for Scorpios who need grounding. But in saying that generally Obsidian itself is connected to Capricorn.

Chakra Alignment: Root.

Element: None although can relate to the birthstone elements.
